Two years ago today, you entered my life. I could go on and on about how I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but instead I’d rather lavish in the relationship we have created.
Scotia and I have an unbreakable bond. She follows me everywhere. She is always excited to see me, no matter how long I’ve been gone. The feeling is mutual. I spoil her, and she spoils me. Mines more with gear, food, and love. She’s more the silent love. The excitement. The joy she brings me. The sanity she provides. And the consistency of who she is. Scotia, today is about who you are becoming and the pup I love to the moon and back. This poem is for you.
You came into my life, scared and in shambles,
We worked together, your fears had me humbled.
Through the years to come, things I didn’t expect:
Your joy and your trust, I can only respect.
Through the twists and turns, together we stayed
Side by side, every night we laid.
With you is where I always want to be
Through the mountains, safe at home, or out at sea.
You’ve taught me patience,
You’ve taught me love.
You’ve taught me expectations,
But beyond everything, beyond the above,
Scotia you have taught me to be,
Absolutely, unequivocally, and completely me.
You are simply you. Quirky and quiet,
You really do you.
Strong, independent, and defiant.
Somehow loud, but always silent.
Today, Scotia is completely about you. We will be in the mountains, chilling at home, and with only your favourite people. Of course there we will plenty of yummy food and treats. I adore you little love. Thanks for everything you are.
